Free English Lessons - Information for Organisations - 3 July to 28 July 2017

The University of Adelaide’s English Language Centre will be offering free English lessons for students (over 18), Monday to Friday, 9.15am – 11.30am, 3 July to 28 July 2017. If you think these lessons may be of interest to the groups you work with, direct potential students to complete the easy on-line registration form by 4 June 2017.

Responsible Gambling Awareness Week - 22 to 26 May 2017

Grant Application Period closing for Open Funding Rounds - 25 May 2017

On Thursday 11 May 2017 an email was sent from the Community Grants Hub incorrectly advising that the application period for the grants rounds below was due to close on 18 May 2017. Celebrating Refugees: Community Dinner to Celebrate Refugee Week - 1 June 2017  north

Together with  Baptist Care, Australian Refugee Association, Australian Red Cross, STTARS, City of Salisbury, Multicultural Communities Council SA, Welcome Salisbury, Lutheran Community Care, Morella Community Centre, Anglicare SA, St John's Anglican Church, Australian Migration Options and Welcome Salisbury Team are hosting a Free Community Dinner to launch the idea of Refugee Month, as they don’t believe a week is enough to celebrate all that our state has benefited from Refugees past and present.

This event will be part of the International Refugee Week events which take place around Australia and the world. The message of Refugee Week is “with courage lets us all combine”. It is a day to celebrate the contribution, diversity, strength and value Refugee’s past and present have made to Australia – a day of respect for those who have come to call Australia home.

Refugee Week - Weave Away - 20 to 23 June 2017  west

A free evening (or evenings) to meet new people in a safe and fun environment as the City of West Torrens acknowledges Refugee Week 2017. Learn how to make a ‘toothbrush rug’ coaster, floor mat, or trivet by re-using old quilt covers, hear how the ancient Icelandic craft emerged and work on an individual project or a communal mat for display. Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves Project Finale - 11 May 2017  west

The 'Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves' project is an annual event now in its 5th year, working to strengthen the understanding of, and relationships between the Muslim, Aboriginal & African cultures.

Grant funding rounds under the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and their Children are now open.

These grant rounds implement measures under the Third Action Plan of the National Plan to provide support to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) women and their children. The two grant rounds are ‘Safer Pathways for CALD women’ and ‘CALD Communities Leading Prevention’. Both grant rounds close 25 May 2017.

ARA: Cultural Awareness Workshops - 30 May, 27 June 2017  west

The workshops explore refugee experience, engaging CALD communities , cross cultural interaction, communication, values, beliefs as well as well as overcoming barriers to service provision. They include guest speakers from refugee background and CALD communities sharing experiences and stories of settlement process and accessing mainstream services and support.
