Utilities Literacy Training for Support Workers

UCWB has recently developed an introductory half-day training in utilities literacy - specifically for Support Workers. The training distils key messages from our training package regarding energy and water. The workshop has a focus on affordability, including bill reading, energy and water efficiency, hardship and concessions.

In order to be accessible to Support Workers who have busy schedules at different times of the day, we can offer the workshop in the morning, afternoon and/or early evening. You can find the flyer for this free training here.

If you are interested in this workshop for your team or staff members, please contact us. If you have a suitable training venue we can deliver the session on-site. Alternatively, we offer modern, accessible training facilities at our head office at 77 Gibson Street, Bowden.

If you are interested in hosting any of the training at your organisation or in your area, please contact us: we are able to deliver training state-wide!

Professional training 2016: Workshops and Forums

We have completed a number of training dates offering two very well received workshops: Innovations and Consolidation.

Innovations
Building on the Utilities Literacy for Community Workers 2-day training, this half-day workshop will present the latest updates on innovations in the residential energy sector. More about solar power systems, including what questions to ask to know whether it’s a good investment right now; solar system leasing and solar power purchase agreements; household storage batteries; and the latest on demand/capacity tariffs and smart meters.

Consolidation
Practise and extend what you learned in the 2-day Utilities Literacy training – more on home energy auditing, including practical exercises and useful resources; using the new “Guide to electricity, gas and SA Water services” when assisting clients; and sharing real experiences with other workers to consolidate skills and identify opportunities to work together to provide better utilities literacy support.

Forums in Adelaide
Two well-attended Forums with guest speakers were held this year at Mawson Lakes and Bedford Park. The program for these events can be viewed here.
