Family Support Program

UCWB’s Family Support Program is a free service that can help your family if you have children up to 18 years old. The service is for people who live in the Charles Sturt or Port Adelaide Enfield council area. The program can assist with parenting skills, improving family relationships and helping children and young people to develop resilience and coping skills.

Funded by the SA Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI), the Family Support Program can help with a wide range of issues including:

  • Parent/child relationship concerns
  • Parenting concerns
  • Transition times such as going from one school to another or a break up
  • Difficulties with social skills and friendships
  • Low self-esteem
  • Behavioural concerns
  • Trauma
  • Family relationship problems
  • Family stress e.g. financial difficulties, unemployment
  • Social isolation

We do this through:

Short term support

  • assessment
  • information and resources
  • brief interventions
  • referral to other community programs and services

Intensive Support

  • intensive case management
  • family interventions and support
  • linking with other relevant services
  • practical assistance at home

Group programs for children and parents/carers

  • Developing children’s social skills and resiliency
  • Provision of information to parents and caregivers to support their parenting role
