For families

The Family Support Program is a free service that assists families with children from birth to 18 years. It aims to strengthen family relationships, increase the resiliency and coping skills of parents/carers and children as well as assist families to support their child.

Central to planning the support required is the needs and well-being of the child and the involvement of the parents/carers.

This program can help to:

  • Build parent/child and family relationships.
  • Work through parenting difficulties and concerns.
  • Life transition issues such as such as starting or changing school.
  • Manage low self-esteem.
  • Deal with trauma.
  • Manage issues causing family stress such as financial difficulties, housing and unemployment.
  • Addressing challenging behaviours.

Short-term services:

  • Information and resources.
  • Brief interventions.
  • Linking with other relevant services/supports.

Intensive support services:

  • Intensive case management.
  • Family interventions and support.
  • Linking with other relevant services/supports.
  • Practical assistance.

Group programs:

  • Programs for children focussing on developing social skills and increasing resiliency.
  • Programs for parents and carers focussing on the provision of information to support their parenting role.

Areas we serve

We work closely with children’s centres, pre-schools, schools and other services. We are able to provide in-home support to children, young people and their families, when required.

We currently provide services to the following areas:

  • Charles Sturt Local Government area.
  • Port Adelaide Enfield Local Government area (excluding the Lefevre Peninsula)
  • Ingle Farm.
