Navigating the often complex Aged Care and Disability services available can be a daunting task for individuals and their loved ones.
UCWB is helping customers and members of the public have their questions answered in a series of free forums with expert guest speakers to be held during 2018. At the latest UCWB forum at the Gully Public House and Garden in Tea Tree Gully in November 2017, guests at the morning session heard from Carla Leversedge, Manager Community Development and Engagement at City of Tea Tree Gully and Desmond Ford, Head of Programs and Business Development at the Council on the Ageing (COTA) SA discuss the challenges people entering the system face.
Information available included how to obtain an ACAT before gaining access to aged care services available under My Aged Care. Attendees were also given information about the NDIS and how to go about establishing a plan.
An afternoon session heard from disability services expert and advocate, Sam Paior, who gave tips on how to gain access to the NDIS and how to get the best from your NDIS plan.

Guests are encouraged to ask questions and UCWB staff are on hand to answer any questions about aged care or the NDIS individually. UCWB conducts the forums as part of its community engagement which is intended to keep customers well informed while allowing them to meet up and have some fun over morning or afternoon tea.
