Why Volunteer With UCWB?

If you are a compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental person looking for a way to give back to the community and learn new skills, then volunteer with us. Whatever time you have, we can match your passion, skills and experience to a volunteer role that’s right for you.

Here are our volunteering opportunities:

Emergency Relief

Our Emergency Relief volunteers provide assistance to people in our community to access essential items like food, clothing, and other much-needed supplies.

They also provide additional information for other services that people might need such as mental health support, family and domestic violence assistance, or financial wellbeing resources.

As an Emergency Relief volunteer, you bring compassion, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach, while handling sensitive and confidential information with care and respect.

No Interest Loan (NILs) Volunteers

NILs volunteers will be involved in submitting loan applications on behalf of clients for assessment by the Loan Provider. This opportunity would suit retired finance professional or tertiary students seeking more experience in financial capability work.

Volunteers in this area should have a good understanding of basic financial literacy, strong communication skills and the ability to maintain client’s files.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

These volunteers provide companionship to older people who are living in their own home or a residential aged care facility and experiencing social isolation or loneliness.

As visiting is about establishing friendship and companionship, visitors are recommended to visit at least once a fortnight with the length of visit dependent on the needs of the older person.

This opportunity would suit someone who is sociable, enjoys a chat, has their own transport and is available fortnightly.
